Now that I have a third and rather old vehicle, I have things to accomplish vehicle-wise. How about you Opponauts?
For the S10, I have two rather major things and the rest are all minor.
To-Do:
Replace radiator (small leak)
Figure out occasional hard starts (most likely a fuel pump - will repair before winter)
Fix tailgate handle (broken, ordered new one already)
Fix dome light and map lights (none work, hopefully just bulbs)
Fix door speakers (don’t work, more than likely disconnected)
Clean interior (not worried about exterior since it is a truck but the cab is gross)
Replace sliding rear window latch (missing)
The airbag light came on for about five minutes yesterday and then went away as mysteriously as it arrived. Old GM problems.
Not too bad and all things I can do myself (except radiator and fuel pump - I’ll get help with those). And my buddy that works on my car has a ‘97 S10 that he put a new motor in, so he knows the S-Series better than anyone else I know. Always good to have knowledgable friends!
Like a rock! (Remember those commercials?!)

None of these fixes are handling fixes.

If you’re replacing interior bulbs you should upgrade to LED

1) buy and install two new summer tires (done last week)
2) fix right headlight (check this one off done last saturday)
3) polish right headlight (plan for this saturday...although the weather is supposed to suck all week so maybe not)
4) PAINT!!! I need to start small since I have no idea what I am doing and work up to the big repairs. After 13 years of ontario salt I am starting to get rusts here and there. We will start with the minimal rusts and move to the bigger rusts. No structural yet, so if we do well this summer it will be left as that.

Do you know about this sort of stuff? Car came with no dome light. One day at the junkyard my then girlfriend suggested I grab one along with a few other bits and bobs. I put it in and it would never turn off. So I took it out.

First, install steering dampener. Second install rear shocks. Third, change oil. Fourth, fix hole in washer fluid reservoir. All to get Tahoe ready for boat season. So excited. Oh and install new breaks and rotors on my gen coupé.

I’d check that door switch. Might be stuck closed or just died into an on position.

Yup! I keep about a dozen to-do lists (general, music to rip or download, apartment, car, etc.).
On the “car” to-do list right now:
wheel alignment
have fuel system, fuel rail & injectors cleaned
valve lash inspection & adjustment
visit wrecker, find cargo anchor cover & panel clips
get sunroof limit switch adjusted (it doesn’t stop where it should)
touch up paint chips
have body shop give me a quote to stop some small rust spots on the inside of rear quarter panels & tail gate
buy some OEM oil filters (this model is known to be picky about filters)
find a rubber antenna that’s car wash safe
replace spare key fob shell that has a crack
find a “bumper guard” - plastic/rubber overlay thing for hatch
bevel the sharp edge of window rain guards
modify a phone holder to fit in the mid-dash parking pass slot
All of that is in addition to the usual “wash and wax, regular oil changes” etc.

This is a spare vehicle/work truck. It needs no mods. Just maintenance to keep it alive. :)

Right, where to start:
Jaguar XJ40 (Red)
-Sort out a bearing in the LSD diff I swapped in that’s whining
-Sort a bit of rust on the bottom of the front wings
-Get aircon working for Summer
-Get a set of lowered springs for it to take it back to the ride height I had before I replaced the saggy old ones with new ones
-Powdercoat the wheels so they look nice again
-Repaint the left hand side window pillars (done the right side)
Jaguar XJ40 (Green)
-Decide whether to scrap or turn into Baja-style lifted rallycross car
Alfa 156
-Replace alternator
Citroen BX
-Weld panel into boot so it’ll pass MOT
-MOT, tax and insure
Spitfire
-Send chassis off to be galvanised
-Buy quaife diff and rebuild diff
-Build up rolling chassis
-Plumb chassis fuel and brake lines
-Sort rust on the floorpan
-Weld in bracket for GT6 fuel tank
-Fabricate bonnet mounting bracket
-fabricate upper mount for VW Golf radiator
-Fix fibreglass bonnet
-Paint body
-Construct a roll bar that’s worth a damn (unlike most on the market at the moment) and bolt into body
-Reupholster seats
-Fabricate an exhaust manifold that’s worth a damn (same story as above)
-Fabricate an inlet plenum
-Fabricate a cowl induction scoop
-Rewire
-Refurb wheels
-Bolt everything back together
-Tune injection system
-Realise how much I’ve forgotten to do and extend the list by another dozen items...
Lada Niva
-Sort out braking system (only brakes on one circuit so it’s bloody terrifying)
-Remove, adjust and refit steering box (arm not on centre so it turns half as far left as it does right)
That’s just the cars I personally own :S others I need to get sorted then I can drive them:
Porsche 914/6
-Sort idle jet on Weber as it only idles on 5 cylinders
-Replace rear brake calipers (we’ve rebuilt them but they’re still dragging)
-Repaint boot
-Repair crack in flared wheelarches where the fibreglass has come away from the metal
Maserati 228
-Repair copious amounts of rust
-Source new windscreen (will be bloody impossible as there’s only 4 left in the UK)
-Possibly manual swap if that actually gets done
MG TC
-Recore radiator
-Replace fuel pump
-Could probably do with a repaint
Maserati 430
-Replace fuel pump
-Start to see if it actually runs right
Vauxhall Corsa
-Caulk up the brake master cylinder as it leaks into the footwell
-Beautify and sell to fund Spitfire
Vauxhall Corsa (girlfriend’s)
-Replace rear springs as they’ve rusted a bit
-Sort passenger’s window as it won#t wind down
-Sort heater that will blow cold, but not hot
Honda Stream
-Repair/replace rear brake calipers
-MOT
-Beautify and sell to fund Spitfire
Fuck me, I haven’t written it out like that before. I’m going to need a long holiday and a dead long-lost relative with lots of cash.

I’ve owned more S10’s than I would like to admit.......
Radiator - Straightforward, make sure you replace the t-stat while you have it apart. Cheap insurance. Also, keep in mind that if the Orange dex-cool hasn’t been flushed to green that now would be a good time to do so. Dex-cool is bad for gaskets and will eat the intake manifold gasket. Do the coolant swap if it hasn’t been done already.
Hard Start - This is a common 4.3l issue and don’t waste your time fixing it. Just cycle the key on-off for 3 seconds before you crank to prime the fuel pressure and it will start right up. Some say it is the check valve in the fuel pump, I’ve replaced everything to no avail.
Dome Light - Go to the junkyard and get a new switch if the bulbs are OK.
Everything else is easy. These are great trucks and are easy to work on. You’ll love the 4.3l, I miss mine.

I only have one car... the 2007 Focus Wagon. My to-do list is:
-repair wiring going into rear hatch door so the 3rd brake light and rear wiper work again.
-Change PCV valve.
-Change oil in about 2000km
-Vacuum the car out.
-scrape away some paint that is bubbling on passenger side and apply some rust paint so the surface rust doesn’t turn into holes.
-Maybe get new tires before next winter
-Maybe eventually install rear lights from a 1st gen Euro Focus wagon that has amber turn signals. It would also involve replacing part of the wiring harness that goes to the rear lights as well.
-Maybe upgrade some bulbs to LED.

Assuming you haven’t cut a hole for a specific dome light assembly, go to the wrecker and find one that has a switch with “ON/OFF/DOOR” positions. Even if you never fix the door switch that would have it working fully, you can always leave it “OFF” until you need it.
Put a good, lower power draw LED in there and even if you accidentally leave it on you shouldn’t run the battery down, at least not overnight.

Awesome! I have been letting the fuel pump prime before cranking and it has been firing right up. I think the door switch is still good because it makes that awful “chime” (more of a screech) if I leave the keys in the ignition and then open the door. But the dome light cover is also missing so the previous owner could've attempted a fix as well.

My ‘67 GTO has a small list, and like most projects, everytime you approach one you add 2 more.
Next up on the list is either replacing the fuel tank or swapping out the dash panel for one that hasn’t been mangled (and doing some rewiring and heater control cable replacements at the same time).

It isn’t the door switch...It is the console switch in the dash. They fail from time to time.
